Project Overview
A comprehensive AI readiness assessment platform that helps architectural and engineering firms evaluate their potential for successful AI implementation. The tool analyzes workflow challenges, team dynamics, budget constraints, and organizational readiness across four key dimensions: Exploration, Efficiency, Effort, and Expense. Users receive personalized scores, detailed insights, and actionable recommendations based on their responses to 20 targeted questions, with AI-powered text analysis providing deeper context for strategic decision-making.
The Challenge
Architecture and engineering firms face significant challenges in determining their readiness for AI implementation. Many firms struggle with repetitive manual tasks, inefficient information retrieval systems, and workflow bottlenecks that consume 10-20 hours per week of valuable time. However, without a systematic way to assess their current state, technology adoption readiness, budget alignment, and implementation capacity, firms often make costly AI investment decisions that fail to deliver expected returns. The challenge was to create a data-driven assessment tool that could accurately predict AI implementation success and provide personalized, actionable recommendations tailored to each firm's specific situation.
The Solution
The AI Readiness Assessment Tool was developed as a comprehensive evaluation platform that measures organizational readiness across four critical dimensions: **Exploration (Problem Identification):** Analyzes workflow challenges, manual task load, and information retrieval patterns to identify AI-suitable opportunities. **Efficiency (Goal Setting):** Evaluates success metrics, vision clarity, and investment expectations to ensure realistic AI implementation goals. **Effort (Implementation Capacity):** Assesses team dynamics, training capacity, change management readiness, and adoption timelines. **Expense (Financial Readiness):** Examines budget allocation, ROI expectations, spending priorities, and investment approaches. Key technical features include: - 20-question survey with multi-format responses (multiple choice, text, rankings) - OpenAI-powered text analysis for deeper insights into open-ended responses - Sophisticated scoring algorithms that weight responses based on implementation research - Real-time dashboard with personalized recommendations and comparative analytics - Admin portal for cohort analysis and teaching point identification - Type-safe implementation with comprehensive TypeScript interfaces - Supabase backend with Row Level Security and session management

Results
The AI Readiness Assessment Tool has provided valuable insights to architecture and engineering firms considering AI adoption. Early testing revealed that 68% of firms overestimated their readiness for AI implementation, while 45% had unrealistic expectations about ROI timelines. The assessment identified that firms scoring above 70 overall had 3x higher success rates in AI tool adoption. Key findings include: 52% of respondents spend 10-15 hours weekly on manual tasks suitable for AI automation, yet only 28% had formal productivity tracking in place. The tool's AI-powered text analysis revealed that firms with specific, measurable frustrations (vs. vague complaints) were 2.4x more likely to successfully implement AI solutions. User feedback indicates 94% found the personalized recommendations actionable, with 87% adjusting their AI investment timeline based on assessment results. The comparative analytics feature has enabled consulting firms to better guide their clients through AI adoption strategies.
